Mesalazine – an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient

We manufacture 5-aminosalicylic acid/mesalazine in an organic synthesis process in accordance with Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).

Once the molecule is formed, it is purified by several unit operations including distillation, crystallization, adsorption processes, centrifugation, vacuum drying and milling.

We manufacture large quantities – up to 2,000 kg per day! This requires a high degree of automation, continuous process control, quality control, as well as risk analyses concerning safety, work conditions, environment and quality.
